Disposable Foley Catheters is a flexible tube that is often passed through the urethra and into the bladder. It is the most common type of indwelling urinary catheter.Foley catheters are commonly made from silicone or natural latex.

Disposable urinary catheters has two separated channels, or lumens, running down its length. One lumen is open at both ends, and allows urine to drain out into a collection bag. The other lumen has a valve on the outside end and connects to a balloon at the tip; the balloon is inflated with sterile water when it lies inside the bladder, in order to stop it from slipping out.

Foley catheter should only be used when indicated, as using it increases the risk of catheter-associated urinary tract infection and other adverse effects.

Product usage:

 

1. Lubrication: Lubricate the latex urethral catheter with medical lubricants before use. Wet the super lubricated catheter with sterile water before use and super lubrication can be achieved without any lubricants.

2. Insertion: Carefully insert the lubricated catheter into the bladder directly (normally indicated by urine flow). then a further 3cm.

3. Water filling: Hold the valve bush, insert the syringe without needle into the valve and the injecting have to be no more than demarcating content. after that, pull softly the catheter outward until bladder is chocked by the inflated balloon.

4. Taking out: When taking out the catheter from the bladder, insert an empty syring into the valve and let the water flow out naturally, or cut off the shaft for quick drainage of water.

5. Retention time:  The retention time is no more than 7 days.
