Disposable urinary catheter is connecting bridge between bladder and urine bag for drainage urine and prevent from cross infection .
Disposable Foley Urinary Catheter has three separated channels:
One channel is standard to open at both ends, and allows urine to drain out into a collection bag.
The 2nd lumen has a valve on the outside end seperately and connects to a balloon at the tip,which is soft rubber or hard plastic valve; the balloon is inflated with sterile water when it lies inside the bladder, in order to stop it from slipping out.
The 3rd way is one more cavity than 2 way catheter, mainly used for the continuous flushing of the bladder in case the catheter is blocked by small blood clots and pus mucus.

2. If the package is damaged or opened,it shall be resterilized or throw away.
3. Don’t use lubricants having a petroleum base.
4. The use of this product shall be carried out by a trained medical professional and it shall be destroyed and properly handled after use.
5. The retention time in body is no more than 7 days and shelf life is 5 years after manufacturing date.
6. In storage and transportation, light and heat shall be avoided and it shall be kept in a dry condition.
How often does a suprapubic catheter need changing?
The first catheter change is usually always done in the hospital/clinic that put the catheter in. After this, it can vary from 4-12 week intervals depending on the type of catheter and your own situation and will usually be done by your nurse.
If the urinary catheter comes out unexpectedly, it must be replaced within a short time. Contact your doctor or nurse as soon as possible. Out of normal working hours, you should proceed to Accident & Emergency.
