Disposable Urinary Catheters has three separated channels:
One lumen has a valve on the outside end seperately and connects to a balloon at the tip,which is soft rubber or hard plastic valve; the balloon is inflated with sterile water when it lies inside the bladder, in order to stop it from slipping out.
Another channel is standard to open at both ends, and allows urine to drain out from bladder into a collection bag.
The 3rd way is one more cavity than 2 way catheter, mainly used for the continuous flushing of the bladder in case the catheter is blocked by small blood clots and pus mucus.
